Tom Cruise Reveals 'Mission: Impossible 6' Title in Instagram Debut

Mission: Impossible 6 Title, First Photo and Synopsis Revealed

While there was some amateur footage and snapshots of Cruise's stunt going wrong (although he was always supposed to slam into the side of the building, his ankle wasn't supposed to break against the wall), we now have a close-up look of what happened thanks to footage Cruise brought to The Graham Norton Show when he was a guest alongside co-stars Rebecca Ferguson, Henry Cavill, and Simon Pegg.

"It's a very cramped vehicle, particularly with Ving [Rhames] and Henry, who are both big guys, and me in the middle bombing around Paris", Pegg said. I said, "It's broken". I thought I'd have at least six months off'. "It's not fully healed, but we're shooting", Tom explained during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show. Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation saw him clinging to the side of an airplane as it took off (although I'm more impressed by Cruise's genuinely terrifying motorcycle skills showcased in a later chase scene). He broke his ankle, and required seven weeks to recuperate. The photo shows a typical movie set clapperboard, with only the title of the film and the word "summer" in it, which is the period when the movie will be released.

Tom Cruise's leg at a very bad angle and Tom Cruise smiling as talks about the accident.

If there's an upside, other than Cruise's good-natured outlook on the whole thing, it's that the fated ankle-breaking shot is actually the take we'll get to see in the finished film.

It wasn't a trailer, but the gruesome evidence of an injury that Cruise suffered while filming a stunt in London's Blackfriars Bridge, which delayed filming past year but didn't end up delaying the release of director Christopher McQuarrie's anticipated sequel to 2015's Rogue Nation. The actor was filming a scene in which he raced across the roof of a building to leap onto another in pursuit of Cavill's character.

He said: 'There is one big set piece, which has been two years in the planning. "We do an aerial helicopter sequence, which in terms of action is the largest we have ever done", he remembers.

The Graham Norton Show airs on Friday 26 January at 10.35pm on BBC One.
