'Serial Stowaway' Marilyn Hartman Arrested at O'Hare: Cops

How the Right Mattress Can Ease Back Pain

While she was on the flight, the airline - British Airways - realised she did not have a ticket.

A woman with a history of sneaking aboard planes slipped past security at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport this week and was flying to London when the airline realized she didn't have a ticket.

Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told CBS Chicago that Hartman slipped through a TSA checkpoint before taking a shuttle to an global terminal. She also reportedly told news outlet NBC5 in December 2015 that she "may have" snuck onto planes eight times.

Hartman is charged with felony theft and a misdemeanor count of criminal trespassing.

Hartman spent a year in Cook County Jail after repeated episodes of attempting to board aircraft at O'Hare and Midway airports.

After her arrest last Monday, Hartman, known as the 'serial stowaway, was flown back to the United States on Thursday, where she was charged with criminal trespass and theft.

Prosecutors at the time recommended that she be sent to a mental health program, but she walked out a week later.

A freaky habit of trying to get on planes without a ticket has resulted in numerous court appearances and convictions.

After sleeping overnight in O'Hare's worldwide terminal, she somehow made it past British Airways staff and a Customs and Border Patrol office.

Lauren Huffman, spokeswoman for the Chicago Department of Aviation, said no passengers or visitors were ever at risk.

They said in a statement: "During the initial investigation it was determined that the passenger was screened at the security checkpoint before boarding a flight".

"We are working with our law enforcement partners to support a comprehensive and thorough investigation, while continuing to maintain the highest levels of security at O'Hare Airport", the statement said. It's unclear how she evaded federal authorities.

"The only reason why you're not going to jail this time is because all these people that are here trying to help you still want to help you", Judge William Raines said in 2016.

Hartman is expected in court Saturday at noon.

At the time, Hartman had been living at a mental health facility in Chicago.

Prosecutors say Hartman put her bag on the screening device, passed security and got in line for a flight to CT.
