Apple plotting cheaper 6.1-inch iPhone X for September

Apple sold 29 million iPhone X units during the holiday quarter, report

Kuo also notes that Apple is likely to start "new iPhone model certifications earlier" than it did a year ago in an effort to avoid any shipping delays.

New reports are suggesting that Apple has plans to release three high-end iPhone this fall with one of them being a 6.1-inch model but that is not all the details we have on the 6.1inch model. Accern also assigned news stories about the iPhone maker an impact score of 44.4202877397576 out of 100, indicating that recent media coverage is somewhat unlikely to have an impact on the stock's share price in the immediate future. That made the iPhone X "world's number one shipping smartphone model". Due to this, it is probable that iPhone X production will be ceased by summers 2018.

According to a report released by research firm Kantar Worldpanel, Apple lost a good chunk of share in eight major smartphone markets around the globe during the period August-October 2017 as it worked to get its stocks ready for the grand entry of the iPhone X early November.

Not only did 29 million iPhone X models help Apple boost sales. These three iPhone models accounted for an estimated 61% of the total iPhone sales in the country.

Bernstein's analysis is based on reports from 10 companies that have both high revenue exposure to Apple and a strong historical correlation with iPhone revenue.

The iPhone X accounted for 20 percent of all US iPhone sales during the fourth quarter of 2017. However, the new iPhone X at $999 is quite pricey, particularly for cost sensitive markets like India.

"A new story from The China Times seems to back up well-connected KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's claims about Apple's upcoming 6.1" LCD iPhone, expected to sport an edge-to-edge display like the iPhone X (including the camera notch) but only a single rear-facing camera. Maybe folks just couldn't afford the pricey phone considering a new survey that claims interest in the new iPhone has hit a historic low.

"This means half of iPhones sold in the quarter had screen sizes larger than 4.7-inches, the largest ever share", 9to5Mac reported. The tech giant would stop producing iPhone X handsets when this year's flagship iPhones enter production, said the analyst. The analyst expects Apple to ship 18 million iPhone X handsets in the current quarter.

"Our analysis points to a sequential decline in iPhone units of 33%, which is only modestly higher than the (roughly) 30% decline Apple has seen in each of the last two years from December to March", Sacconaghi said. The third device would feature a 6.1-inch LCD screen.

The only reason behind Apple to acquire the LCD screens instead of OLED panel is to reduce the actual pricing of this upcoming iPhone. Apple will reportedly source the LCD panels from Japan Display.
