Warriors' Green stays in Game 4 after technical foul fiasco

Draymond Green already didn't have many friends in Cleveland heading into Game Four of the NBA Finals on Friday night.

And the feeling is probably mutual.

The loss was the Warriors' first in two months, dating back to the regular season, and puts them in familiar position having returned home previous year with a 3-1 lead over Cleveland in the NBA Finals, which they went on to lose in seven games.

"After calling the loose ball foul on Draymond Green, I noticed the reaction by Coach Kerr and then assessed a technical foul", Callahan said. "Don't seem to be the sharpest people around".

Green was allowed to stay in the game Friday night after officials said the first of two technical fouls charged to him had actually been called on coach Steve Kerr.

Upon immediate review from the officials, the technical foul was still on Green, but showed that his first technical foul from the first half was indeed given to head coach Steve Kerr, not Green.

"When the technical foul was called on Draymond Green, we reported it to the table", said official Mike Callahan, who called the technical foul on Green.

Green appeared to be ejected when he was called for what the Cavs and Warriors thought was his second technical midway through the third quarter. "I take full responsibly for that". Durant absorbing a blow to the head from Kevin Love in the third quarter, then exchanging words with James.

Goble seconded Callahan's statements, saying that he should have done a better job of informing the table official that it was Kerr, and not Green, who was slapped with a technical foul.

Speaking after the game, referee John Goble conceded he did not properly communicate to the scorer's table that Kerr had been given the first-half technical, leading to the foul being incorrectly logged as going against Green.

"The table informed us it was his second technical foul, and [that he was] ejected". That gave him an accumulation of flagrant foul points and forced him to sit out Game 5 as the Warriors lost their chance to clinch the series, and they eventually fell in seven games. "But I thought I heard the PA announcer say it was on Draymond".

"Yeah, they messed that one up bad", Green said. And in a game filled with insane moments, this one wound up topping them all. "I know officiating is tough, and but when you go review situations, they usually get it right". They are at home thinking about me.

"Last year was last year, this year is this year", said Kerr.
