Cosby jury wants to review lawsuit testimony

Cosby, who has been accused of decades-old sexual misconduct by more than 50 women in recent years, faces a lengthy jail stint if convicted. They said the charges were filed too late. But she has made no public appearances related to the criminal proceedings. It was then that a new prosecutor chose to charge him.

BILL Cosby's lawyers rattled through his rape trial defence in just SIX MINUTES yesterday.

The jury was set to return on Tuesday morning, but it was not clear when Cosby would receive his verdict. It was read to them by the judge. She left during the prosecution's closing statement. "Mrs. Cosby has been supporting Mr. Cosby for the entire time they've been together for 53 years", he said. She testified in firm and clear words over two days last week that Cosby, a powerful alum at the university, mentored her and then took advantage of her at his home in the suburbs of Philadelphia. On Monday, the question hanging over the case was whether the TV star himself would testify. She denied they had a romantic relationship and said she had rebuffed previous advances from him. Then pointing to Camille Cosby said: "And she deserved better".

But Steele said it's no accident that some of Constand's memories are faulty.

McMonagle offered a narrative in which Constand had a consensual encounter and was not planning on making a charge - indeed, she had been contacting Cosby, the attorney said, to continue their relationship.

The seven-men, five-woman panel began deliberations at around 5:30 pm local time (2130 GMT), each ordering dinner from a series of menus that included burgers and salads.

The trial featured testimony of Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee, who accused the 79-year-old entertainer of drugging and molesting her after inviting her to his home in 2004.

A conviction could put Cosby in prison for the rest of his life.

Cosby's spokesman said last week that Cosby might take the stand, but his lawyers were mum. He says their sexual encounter was consensual. Legal experts and courtroom observers generally dismissed that suggestion as a bluff, perhaps created to throw prosecutors - who ended with a lot of momentum - off balance.

Cosby told a radio interviewer weeks before the trial that he did not plan to testify in his defense.

Dozens of women say he assaulted them, but statutes of limitation rules mean he is on trial for only one allegation.

A Pennsylvania prosecutor says "fancy lawyering" can't save Bill Cosby from his own admissions about fondling a woman after giving her pills he knew could put her to sleep.

Shaffer told jurors under defence questioning that Constand had visited with Cosby at an out-of-state casino and that police knew he had vision problems more than a decade ago.

McMonagle's tone became tinged with anger as he stressed Constand's misstatements to police about the day of the assault. He delivered his closing statements with the vigor that's come to be expected from the brash Philly attorney, suggesting that Cosby's accuser was a "lover" and not a victim. She sat in the front row during closing arguments by the defense.

McMonagle said that while the comedian had been unfaithful to his wife, he did not commit a crime.

Prosecutors are poised to give their closing argument Monday afternoon. During a taped phone call that was broadcast in the courtroom, Cosby's recognizable voice can be heard offering to pay for graduate school in addition to travel expenses and a meeting with a talent agent.

Cosby's prior use of Quaaludes with women, Steele argued, show that he had knowledge of what he was doing when he gave Constand those pills. He said that after she took the pills, she and Cosby enjoyed "heavy petting" on the sofa in his living room. The witness, who was a detective, gave six minutes of testimony, the Associated Press reported. Her mother, Gianna Constand, left midway during McMonagle's closing arguments in which he repeatedly branded her daughter as a liar.
