Vicky Goswami and Mamta Kulkarni

Alleged druglord Vicky Goswami and Bollywood star Mamta Kulkarni Alleged druglord Vicky Goswami and Bollywood star Mamta KulkarniA THANE sessions court on Tuesday declared former actor Mamta Kulkarni and her partner Vicky Goswami as proclaimed offenders in connection with their alleged links to a racket of supplying Ephedrine. A warrant under Section 82 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) was also issued by the court.

Meanwhile, a senior Thane police officer told DNA, "After the arrest of Goswami by DEA, Kulkarni has fled from Kenya and after the court directs to issue Red Corner Notice against Kulkarni we will extradite her for the formal arrest and interrogations".

Hirey added that with this, the investigating agency would be in a better position to get the Interpol to issue a Red Corner Notice against the duo. The police has to arrest the accused within 30 days from the date of the order and file a compliance report about the execution of the order.

According to the police, ephedrine was being diverted from Avon Life Sciences to a Kenya-based drug cartel which was headed by Goswami, where it was used to make the party-drug Methamphetamine.

On 12th April, two drug peddlers, Sagar Suresh Powale and Mayur Suresh Sukhdare were found with Rs 12 lakh-worth of the ephedrine drug in their possession. Reportedly Mamta would regularly visit her then boyfriend at the said Dubai jail, and she married him while he was in the jail.

By March 2017, a non bailable warrant was issued by Thane sessions court against Kulkarni and her drug lord husband Goswami, who was earlier extradited from Kenya to U.S. by Drug Enforcement Administration on charges of dealing with drugs.

"We have enough evidence to prove that Kulkarni and her husband Goswami were directly involved in producing and smuggling drugs". Goswami was put behind the bars in a Dubai jail for illegal drug trafficking in 1997.
